Fords Forever   For the Enthusiast

One Unique Boss 429
text by Dean V. Ricci

As this car sits, you'd never believe that this car came off the production line originally, as a Silver and Black Boss 351 Mustang. Its owner however, looking for even more power, swapped out the already stout drivetrain for the ultimate -- a Boss 429 engine.

In addition to the graphics modifications on the exterior of the car, additional work was performed on this car to bring it to the owner's vision of a 1971 Boss 429 Mustang. A car that Ford never produced in that model year.

With 1,060 miles on the odometer, chassis no. 1F02R166633 is one pampered pony.

This car was purchased in Texas as a “car in box”. Most of its hard to find Boss parts were already long gone, but it did have the original 31 spline nodular rear-end with staggered shocks and the original V.I.N. stamped engine block. He always wanted to build a 1971 Boss 429 and this was the perfect platform. His intent was to make the car look like it would have if Ford had actually continued the Boss 429 project from the outside, but to add enough modern upgrades to make the car more drivable. Once around the block in this beauty and you will agree, he nailed it!
