Mustangs of New York

New York City - Spring 1985 - I was there on business for Mustang Monthly Magazine shooting "Mustangs of the Big Apple" with the Long Island Mustang Club. It was one of the most memorable trips I've ever taken at the very beginning of my career journey.
Such a terrific group of people - some - like Airframe Inspector Pete Semetis of Pan Am and the Long Island club who owned two 1964 1/2 Indy Pace Car Mustang hardtops in those days.

Pete and I remain friends to this day - and yet we lost track of one another for decades. Caught up and it erased all time passage - like we'd never lost track.

A buddy of Pete's at Pan Am got me in to Pan Am's incredible main overhaul base at JFK Airport and we spent an evening on top of the Pan Am terminal watching jets. It was a fabulous visit.

The Long Island club found dozens of great locations all over Manhattan to shoot Mustangs including The Plaza Hotel.

These are but a few images from that weekend in New York. Some are especially heartbreaking for obvious reasons.
