Sheldon Creed sweeps Stadium Super Trucks weekend
with win in race No. 2 in Detroit
VICTORY COMES AFTER FOURTH-PLACE FINISH IN TRANS AM MUSCLE CAR CHALLENGE
JUNE 4, 2017 -- Detroit, MI -- Arizona’s Sheldon Creed, 19, has made it a
clean sweep of the Speed Energy Stadium Super Trucks races in Detroit.
The teenager handled the pressure from series veterans such as Arie
Luyendyk Jr. and Paul “The Dude” Morris with aplomb, driving to victory
both Saturday and Sunday in his No. 1 Safecraft Safety Equipment truck.
Earlier on Sunday, Creed showed what a natural talent he is, coming from
14th on the grid in the Trans Am Muscle Car Challenge TA2 class race to
finish a hard-charging fourth.
Matthew Brabham (Queensland, Australia) finished second to Creed on Sunday
in Robby Gordon’s truck series with Gavin Harlien (Arizona) a fighting
third.
Creed is also driving in the ARCA (oval/road-racing) Series this season.
He finished sixth at Nashville.
“It was a great weekend for us,” said Creed. “The truck was really set up.
I held off Matt (Brabham), and he’s a super driver. I very pleased with
the results.”
Creed didn’t put a tire wrong all weekend.
“Just tried to stay smooth as possible and hit my marks,” said Creed, who
has also run desert trucks and motorcycles. “It worked pretty well.”
Atila Abreu started on pole and finished eighth.
