Ford GT finished 3rd & 4th in class,
as Porsche dominates race
Porsche claimed a one-two result in GTE
Pro with its pair of retro-liveried 911 RSRs. Kevin Estre, Michael
Christensen and Laurens Vanthoor enjoyed a comfortable margin for much of
the race after all its rivals — the four Ganassi Ford GTs included — were
all delayed during the first of four safety car to interrupt the race.
Estre and his team-mates, who race the so-called 'Pink Pig' colour scheme
ran out winners by just under a minute from team-mates Gianmaria Bruni,
Richard Lietz and Frederick Makowiecki in car that mimicked Porsche's
successful liveries on its 956 and 962C Group C cars in the 1980s.
Ford took third and fourth, the American-entered car of Dirk Muller, Joey
Hand and Sebastien Bourdais leading home the 'British car' of Andy Priaulx,
Harry Tincknell and Tony Kanaan. Corvette Racing claimed sixth position
with the C7-R Chevrolet shared by Jan Magnussen, Antonio Garcia and Mike
Rockenfeller.
