Superformance “Future GT Forty” GT40 MKI

Superformance is one of the top names in the world of continuation Shelby Cobras and Daytonas, and today they’ve added the GT40 MKI to the arsenal with their “Future GT40”. The idea came to one of the car’s owners Doug Campbell after watching the 2017 24 Hours of Le Mans which was about a year and a half ago. That is an incredibly short amount of time to go from idea to SEMA debuting when considering they went to such incredible lengths to make the car as close as possible to the real thing.

The car’s reveal is timely as this year is the 50th anniversary of the Ford’s 1968 Le Mans victory. These GT40s are the only ones licensed by SAFIR and carry the original GT40-P-Series numbers. What’s more, two-thirds of the steel-monocoque chassis was designed to be totally interchangeable with an original GT40.

Because the build was inspired by the Le Mans winning Ford GT, Superformance with the help of V’s Performance in Orange, California used a 3.5L Ecoboost V6 Engine with turbos from Garrett Advancing Motion. MagnaFlow hand-made the exhaust system to help the twins breathe easy.

Ridetech’s Shockwave air-suspension was used to keep the custom, pin-drive, HRE wheels and Michelin rubber comfortably on the road. Power is delivered to the ground via a Centerforce Dual Friction clutch within a Quaife 5-speed transaxle. APR Performance aero-parts keep the car sucked to the ground and enhances the current Ford GT Le Mans livery on the car.
