Welcome to a new Beginning
by Dean V. Ricci
Welcome to the Premiere Edition of Shelby Life On Line, sister electronic publication
to the original Shelby Life. When I think back to the many years that I have been involved with one club
publication or another, I think about the possibilities that exist with a totally electronic
magazine and I get very excited !
When you think back to a group of guys back in 1972 forming a small group known as the
"Cobra Club" and putting on the very first Show and Go in 1975 ... and now here you are 22 years
later reading a form of the club newsletter on a computer screen, it gives you a real feel
for the staying power of this organization, as well as a bright outlook for our future.
The internet is a medium for everyone to utilize to whatever extent they desire. It's
available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Now, with the birth of this Web Site, you
can be in touch anytime you want, for as much or as little as you want. But the real beauty
of it is the entire world can knock at our door anytime they damn well feel like it, because
of this wonderful computer network that is simply a phone call away.
As acceptance of the internet continues within our society, you will see access to it get
simpler and simpler. There already are products on the market that give the ordinary TV viewer
the ability to get to the internet without buying a computer. They are operated with either
a hand held remote control or via an infared keyboard. Also along that vein, your local Cable TV provider will soon
be able to offer you internet access right through your cable-tv system. Under this type of infastructure,
your access speed through the various internet sites will be unbelievably fast.
I look forward to a great deal of support from our membership for this publication, and the
Web Site in general. Articles can be submitted via E_MAIL, as well as the
traditional method. We can scan in typed documents as well read in a floppy
disk.
