Archive 100 Years of the Model T Ford hosted hundreds of Model T owners, enthusiasts and employees to help kick off the largest Model T centennial celebration in Michigan. The Ford Model T debuted on Oct. 1, 1908, and more than 15 million units were built and sold in the 19 years when production ended on May 26, 1927. On Saturday, September 27th, a 50-car parade of Model Ts and other historic Ford vehicles motored through the streets of Metro Detroit celebrating the centennial anniversary of the "car that put the world on wheels," the Ford Model T. From 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., the parade marked exactly 100 hundred years to the day since production for the Model T began at the Ford Piquette Avenue Plant. Beginning at Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn, the motorcade visited the four locations that became historic landmarks as a result of the iconic success of the Model T, including the Ford Piquette Avenue Plant, the Edsel & Eleanor Ford House, the Henry Ford Estate – Fair Lane, and wrapped up at The Henry Ford. More than 100 Model T owners and enthusiasts, including special guests participated at each individual venue.
