The Checkered Flag for Mike Riemenschneider
by Jeff Burgy

SAAC-MCR lost a significant pillar of our community this week with the untimely passing of Mike Riemenschneider. Ernest M. Riemenschneider, known as “Remo” to his many friends died in the early morning hours of January 21.

Mike was a SAAC and SAAC-MCR member from day one. He was always there to help out at events, and held office posts for the local club for many years. Whenever you went to a swap meet of Ford parts, you could usually count on seeing Mike there with a table full of freshly restored Holley carburetors.

Mike worked in Service Engineering at Ford, and was extremely knowledgeable about carburetors, distributors, engines and superchargers.

He had a microfiche machine in his basement, and a full set of Ford microfiche cards from Ford Parts and Service Division.

Mike was always smiling and ready to help anyone who needed a hand with any kind of engine or tuning problem. He will certainly be missed by all of us. Mike leaves behind his wife, Nancy, son James, daughter Julie, and five grandchildren.

Visitation for Mike will be held Friday, January 24th, from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Vermeulen Funeral Home located at 46401 Ann Arbor Road, Plymouth, MI 48170 (734.459.2250). A funeral service will be held at Vermeulen at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 25th.
